ENGAA softball administers the following age-based divisions for softball. Girls can “play up” to a higher age group only with the written permission of their parents, and by invitation of the ENGAA softball commissioner.
Spring Season Divisions
This is an instructional league for 5 and 6 year olds, focusing on the basics of the game, and having fun.
This instructional division is for girls ages 7-8, as of 31 December 2012. This is a coach-pitch division that uses extra-soft reduced-weight 11″ softballs. Everybody bats, and there is no official score keeping. Our emphasis is on skills fundamentals, sportsmanship, and having fun. Our 8U teams participate in the Eastern Montgomery County Girls’ Softball League.
This division is for girls aged 9-10 as of 31 December 2012. This is a player-pitch division using 11″ softballs pitched from 35 feet using either a slingshot or windmill delivery (pitcher’s option, windmill preferred). Our 10U teams participate in the Eastern Montgomery County Girls’ Softball League.
Juniors (12U) and Seniors (14U)
These divisions are for girls aged 11-12 (12U) and 13-14 (14U) as of 31 December 2012. This is a player-pitch division using 12″ softballs and windmill delivery. Our 12U and 14U teams participate in the Inter-Community Girls Softball League (ICGSL). See the ICGSL site for rules and other information.
